I found your geneology page while searching information about the USS Baltimore. My father served aboard the Big B for the entire duration of WWII. He actually worked on its construction at Bethlehem Steel in Quincy, MA, before joining the Navy after the attack on Pearl Harbor. He was then assigned to the first crew to go aboard her, and was on board from the first day of her launching. I heard many great stories about the Baltimore from him, the most memorable probably being the time they were caughtin the typhoon and almost rolled. I have always felt a special connection to the Baltimore and especially so since the passing of my dad in 1984. I wear a Baltimore cap proudly for all the local vetreran's events and holidays. My father's name was Elvin Bean and he worked in the engine room as an oiler and water tender. He was also the Captain's chauffer. Thanks for the great page dedicated to the Big B, your dad, and the veterans of CA 68,
