Downloadable files on The Breathless Moon have been compressed and archived using either the WinZip or WinRAR archiving programs. Without going into detail about these programs and how they work, file archiving and compression allows you to download and store a smaller, compacted copy of the original file without loss of data. This save you time and space. However, downloading the compressed WinZip or WinRAR files from The Breathless Moon will vary depending on your connection to the Internet and which file version you select.

The Breathless Moon offers "Self Extracting" genealogical files, which requires no additional programming or special knowledge of compressed files. Simply download the selected files to a folder of your choice on your computer then RUN the file. The file will automatically extract the original file; ready for use with your favorite genealogy program.

Several versions of the Burgess Legacy Genealogical files are offered on The Breathless Moon. Both WinZip and WinRAR formats are offered, as these programs are the most popular and widely available. For the "full" file downloads, both versions are offered for those individuals how have a preference. The "chunked" version (only offered in the WinRAR format) is offered as a convenient option to either download the full version of the Burgess Legacy Genealogical file in parts suitable for storage on 3.5" Floppy disks or may wish to download the parts of the "full" file over several online sessions.

When downloading the "chunked" version, ALL parts must be downloaded. Part 1 is the main extraction file or executable file. To extract the original file, all parts of the file must be placed in the same folder before executing Part 1.
