Note: Richard enlisted in the Confederate Army on 01 Nov 1863 at Dixon, Alabama. He was wounded and taken prisoner on 23 Dec 1864 in Madison Co., ALabama.
He was treated for a gunshot wound to his right side at the General Hospital in Hunstville, Alabama. He was then sent to prison in Louisville, Kentucky, where he was later discharged to the Camp Chase prison, Ohio, on 08 Jan 1865.
He died at Camp Chase on 20 Feb 1865 and buried in the Confederate Cemetery there (Row 31, Site 18). The cemetery is located about 1/3 mile south of the camp at 2900 Sullivant Ave in Columbus, Ohio
