Ansted - Mrs. Fannie Noble Dempsey, 85, died Tuesday in a Beckley nursing home after a long illness. Born. Sept. 17, 1895, in Ansted, she was a daughter of the late John and Nancy Cameron Noble. Her husband, Oscar Dempsey, died in 1940. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Helen Jones of Galion, Ohio and Mildred Benger and a son, Eugene Dempsey, both of Ansted; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. in Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home chapel in Ansted with the Rev. Wendell Hoge officiating. Burial will be in the Restlawn Memory Gardens at Victor. Friends may call Thursday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Ansted - Eugene N. Dempsey, 86, of Ansted, passed away Friday, May 11, 2001, at Hidden Valley Nursing Home, Oak Hill, following a long illness.
Born Aug. 23, 1914, in Ansted, he was the son of the late Oscar and Fannie Noble Dempsey.
Mr. Dempsey was retired from Alloy Union Carbide as an electrician and a member of Ansted Masonic Lodge, VFW of Fayetteville, American Legion of Fayetteville, CCC Alumni and Hopewell Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Price Dempsey, on March 8, 1992.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Restlawn Memory Gardens, Victor, with Pastor Brian Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow.
Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home, Ansted.
Military graveside rites will be conducted by VFW Post 7695 of Ansted and Gauley Bridge Post 8366.
