Note* Goodrich was born and raised in New Kent County, Virginia where he is mentioned in St. Peter's Parish records as late as 1722. By 1724 he had moved to Spotsylvania County where it is recorded that he witnessed the will of John Roberts. In 1726 he is identified as the Sheriff (appointed 25 April 1726), Coroner and Justice of the Peace of Spotsylvania County. He was elected Vestryman of St. Mark's Parish in January of 1731. The Virginia Gazette of 14 July 1738 reports:

Williamsburg, July 14. We hear from Orange County that Colonel Goodrich Lightfoot died lately at his house in that County. He went to the courthouse in good health, was taken ill there, carried home that evening, and not withstanding all possible care of him, he died the next morning.
