Holden - Vesta Lena Sabatinis, 86, of Holden,formerly of Fayetteville, died Monday, Jan. 25, 1999, in Logan General Hospital after a long illness.
Born Oct 3, 1912 in Lookout, she was the daughter of the late Frank W. and Vona Dempsey Coffman.
Ms. Sabatinis was a housewife, and a member of Rock Lick Community Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Sabatinis and six brothers, Thomas D., Charles R., Ernest H., Clifford W., Mack S., and Alfred Coffman.
Surviving: brother, Ralph F. "Nick" Coffman of Spring Valley, Ill.; sisters, N. Marie Parsons Manley of Holden, Lillian V. Gill of Summerlee, Frances E. Mullins of Ravenswood; nieces and nephews.
Service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with the Rev. Bill Menefee officiating. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity.

Patrica Ann "Cricket" Lucas Coffman, 52, of Oak Hill, WV went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 20, 2004 at her home following a long illness.
Born August 01, 1952 at Fayette County, WV she was the daughter of the late Charles and Shirley Rakes Lucas.
Mrs. Coffman was a member of the Sun Baptist Church and was a homemaker.
Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, Frank W. Coffman and a sister, Debra Sue Lucas.
Survivors include daughters, Janel Wilson and husband, Doug and Rhonda Stover and husband, Chris, all of Oak Hill; three sisters, Brenda Taylor and husband, David, Libby Campbell and husband, Ralph, and Lynn Lucas all of Ansted; three grandchildren, Joshua Coffman, Brandi Wilson and Felicia Stover all of Oak Hill.
The family is forever grateful to Frances Smith, Shelly Crawford, Judy Dix and Connie Crabtree for their overwhelming support and help.
Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill on Thursday, October 21, 2004, from 6:00 - 9:00 pm.
Services will be on Friday, October 22, 2004, at 11:00 am at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill with Rev. Bob Burnett officiating. Burial will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity, WV.

Oak Hill Lillian Virginia Gill, 75, died Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2006, at Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley.
Born March 10, 1931, at Thurmond, WV, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Vona Dawn Dempsey Coffman.
Mrs. Gill was a housewife, homemaker, loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Original Church of God in Oak Hill.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Herbert Lee Gill Sr.; a son, Bob G. Coffman; brothers, Thomas, Charlie, Clifford, Mac, Ernest, Alfred and Ralph Nick Coffman, and a sister, Lena Sabitinis.
Survivors include four sons, Herbert Lee Gill Jr. and wife, Teresa, of Oak Hill, Larry D. Gill and wife, Kay, of Hilltop, John E. Gill and wife, Vickie, of St. Albans, and Rick A. Gill and wife, Audrey, of Oak Hill; a daughter, Debra J. Mickey of Oak Hill; two sisters, Frances Mullins and husband, Bill, of Ravenswood, and Marie Manley and husband, Herbert, of Holden; 20 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 3, 2006, at Tyree Funeral Home Chapel in Oak Hill with the Rev. Robert Burnett officiating. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Oak Hill.

I helped for a couple of years to take care of her until she was put into Hilltop Nursing Home, along with her daughter Debbie, Teresa, another daughter in law and Debbie, & Michelle 2 of Lillians grand daughters.

Oak Hill- Herbert Lee Gill Sr. 72, died Monday, Feb 27, 1995 in a Oak Hill medical center, following a long illness.
Born May 1, 1922, at Brown's Mountain, he was the son of the late Arthur and Rebecca Jane Rhodes Gill.
Mr. Gill was a diabled coal miner from the New River Coal Company Summerlee Mines, was a member of the Original Church of God, the UMWA and was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian V. Coffman Gill; a daughter Debra Mickey of Oak Hill; five sons, Bob Gill of Nashville, Tenn., Herbert Gill Jr., of Oak Hill, Larry Gill of Oak Hill, John Gill of St. Albans and Rick Gill of Oak Hill; two sisters, Mary LaRocco of Oak Hill and Anna Mae Pash of Oberlin, Ohio, 20 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.
Services will be noon Thursday at Tyree Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Burnett officiating.
Burial will follow in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Oak Hill.

Herbert was born May 1, 1922 Browns Mt (Edmond WV Fayette Co)
Herbert worked in the coal mines, having last worked at Summerlee Mines until an accident (Roof Fall in Mines hugh Rock fell on top of Herbert)
He would be in a hospital in New York for a long time, Doctors telling him he would never walk again. He would prove them wrong and would also father more children after his accident. He walked on canes for the rest of his life.
Herbert passed away Feb 27, 1995 in Oak Hill WV , from Cancer

Spring Valley - Ralph "Sarge" Coffman, 71, of Spring Valley died at 3:20 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, 2004, at Hines VA Hospital in Maywood.
He was born Nov. 30, 1933, in Sun, W.Va., to Frank and Vonia Dempsey Coffman.
Surviving are three daughters, Debby Shaughnessy of Ottawa, Teri Dobson and Karen Shurts, both of Spring Valley; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Marie (and Herbert) Manley of Holden, W.Va., Lillian Gill of Oak Hill, W.Va., and Frances (and Bill) Mullens of Ravenswood, W.Va.
He was preceded in death by six brothers and one sister.
A Vietnam War Marine Corps veteran, he served from 1954 to 1969.
He retired from Caterpillar Inc. in Mossville.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Barto Funeral Home in Spring Valley. The Rev. Chuck Maney will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Valley Memorial Park, where full military honors will be accorded by the Veterans Memorial Group of LaSalle and Oglesby.
