Corliss - Lester L. Armstrong, 75, of Corliss passed away Feb. 11, 2002, in Heartland of Rainelle Nursing Home after a long illness.
Born Dec. 5, 1926, in Corliss, he was a son of the late Joseph Benjamin and Truma Sevy Armstrong.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Ruth Cathleen; a brother, Howard Armstrong.
Mr. Armstrong was a member of Minnie Belle Baptist Church and a retired welder from CSX Railway.
Survivors include his wife, Janet G. McGraw Armstrong of Corliss; sons and daughters-in-law, Arnold and Carol Armstrong of Clifton Forge, Va., Waymen and Wilma Armstrong of Corliss, Joe Armstrong of Corliss; daughter and son-in-law, Marsha and Mark Adkins of Fayetteville; seven grandchildren, Eric Armstrong of Clifton Forge, Va., Katherine Caldwell of Glen of Glen Wilton, Va., Rebecca Evans of Scarbro, Aaron Armstrong of Corliss, Nathan Armstrong of Hico, Joshua Armstrong of Alderson, Zachary Adkins of Fayetteville; four great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; five sisters, Ida Burr of Rainelle, Ruth Beitz of Beckley, Zella Knapp of Sam Black, Betty Wright of Corliss, Beatrice Cutlip of Rupert.
Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home, Rainelle, with Pastor Gene Lloyd Bennett officiating. Entombment will follow in Wallace Memorial Mausoleum, Clintonville.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Corliss Freda Virginia Aldridge, 80, passed away Sunday morning, Oct. 2, 2005, following a long illness at CAMC Memorial Hospital in Charleston, with her family by her side.
Born Sept. 20, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Hugh L. Rogers Sr. and Myrtle Grace Rider Rogers. She was a lifelong resident of Corliss.
Mrs. Aldridge was a member of the Lawton Charter No. 35 Order of the Eastern Star since 1958, a member of Minnie Belle Baptist Church of Corliss and a homemaker.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Hugh Lewis Rogers Jr.; and a sister, Ethel Grace Sevy.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Harold Ashley Aldridge Sr. of Corliss; two sons, Harold A. Aldridge Jr. and wife, Sue, of Corliss, and Edward L. Aldridge of Corliss; two daughters, Bonnie Reed and husband, Gale, of Rainelle, and Rita Tincher and husband, Randy, of Rainelle; two brothers, Elby Fritz Rogers, and Arden Lynn Rogers, both of New Castle, Del.; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wallace & Wallace Chapel in Rainelle, with Pastor Gene Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in the R.S. Aldridge Memorial Cemetery at Corliss.
Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. There will be an Eastern Star service at 7 p.m. today during the visitation.
