1811 and now a resident of Wyoming County, Virginia; his mother, Mary Millard is a native of England born in 1814 Rev A M Toler was married in North Carolina, to Nettie Brookshire, born in Caldwell County, Dec 5th, 1864 By a former marriage to Martha Hatfield, born Oct 19, 1833 and died July 17, 1891. He had seven children - James M P born June 18, 1859; John C B born March 3, 1861, Aramina P A born Dec 21st 1862, died Dec 21, 1864; Laruie Z., born March 21, 1867; Maria, born Nov 27, 1871, Julius C born July 31, 1874. The subject of our sketch was a soldier in the Confederate States Army. serving from 1861 to 1866; he first enlisted in the Home Guards, serving about one year in that capacity; he then joined Breckenridge's Cav 36th Virginia Regt Co A. of which Co he was Orderly Sergt, he joined "Stonewall Jackson's Brig in Tenn and took part in the following battles' Chattanooga and Cloyd's farm. He was a faithful soldier, and is a good citizen; through industry he has become one of the wealthiest men of Logan County, West Virginia owning a beautiful home three miles from the N & W. W. R. R. and is manager of mineral and timber lands. He has about 1500 acres of coal and timber lands.
